#fashionweekproblems

So NYFW has come and gone, LFW is well on its way, and as usual, I am left with an internal battle:  should I, or shouldn’t I be covering fashion month? Twice a year I have this conversation with myself which usually goes something like this:

Me: “So it’s February…you know what that means. Two words: Fashion. Week.”
Me: “Ugh. I know, did you see the atrocity that was ______? God, I was embarrassed for them. But ______ was so good though, I’m still dying.”
“I KNOW RIGHT? But that’s not what I meant. You need to prioritize your life! Are you  covering fashion week on your blog this year or what?!”
“I don’t know! Is it necessary? There’s got to be a billion other blogs covering fashion week right now. Who’s gonna care about another collage on another blog? Plus I work, like, every day this week. I don’t have time!”
“Girl, get your shit together! Besides, I don’t have the answer. I’m just a figment of your overactive imagination, remember?”

And as usual, I am left shoving the burning question to the very back of my mind until–surprise, surprise–fashion month is long gone, at which point, I sheepishly shrug to no one in particular and reassure myself, “Oh well, there’s always next season.” Does anyone else feel my dilemma here, or is this just another example of #firstworlproblems?

It’s not that I don’t keep up with all the new collections. I  do–and can easily name the designer upon request when browsing through editorials months later–but with all the coverage that you’re bombarded with by a myriad of fashion and social media, (Style.com, Fashionista, blogs, tumblrs, pinterests etc.) what benefit does a “fashion week recap” provide to my readers? I guess I should be asking you guys this question instead of myself, since it’s you who’s browsing through Cheap Thrills and not me. So here goes. Honest question: would you like to see recaps/collages/reviews of collections from me, or would you rather skip it? I’ve gone nearly four years without a single recap, but hey–if there’s enough interest, I’d definitely give it a go!

But #fashionweekproblems aside, can I redirect your attention to my newest wardrobe addition? I’ve got a new favourite shirt thanks to the lovely Selina over at Motel Rocks, one that fits as amazing as it looks. I’ll definitely be wearing this bad boy with everything, including this gem of a clutch that I haven’t used in ages.

PS. Motel Rocks also provided me with a 15% off code for my readers: TOPBLOG15. Enjoy!

Wearing a vintage blazer, shirt c/o Motel Rocks, thrifted belt, vintage clutch, Wranco jeans, and Vince Camuto booties.
