It seems that my stress levels are running at a record high, and the term “frustrated” is a major understatement. Those of you who follow on twitter may have already caught wind of the hellish nightmare of transferring my blog to a different server that I’ve been going through in the past week: the dreaded Blogger to WordPress move.
With many bloggers’ content and reach expanding as they gain more experience blogging (AKA as they grow wiser) many realize how restrictive Blogger is as a platform. I found myself unable to adjust my layout to my liking (their layout selection is boring and limited), frustrated by the lack of helpful apps and widgets (nothing compared to WordPress, trust!) and not to mention, paranoid of getting my blog shut down for no apparent reason (I’ve heard horror stories of websites being shut down by Blogger without any notice). After four years of blogging, I finally decided that it was time to move on. The choice was simple, the act itself, unfortunately isn’t.
You may have noticed that my blog was down for a few days, due to said move–going from .com, to .blogspot.com and back to .com again–but that was the domain transfer process and we’re in the clear now…cheapthrillsss.com is here to stay! I’ll spare you the details, but the fact still remains: it wasn’t easy to transfer domains or move four year’s worth of content from one platform to another.
Blogger has honestly messed up so many aspects of my blog that it’s going to take me a long time to fix everything and get back on my feet. That’s why the site looks pretty bare right now. We’re still in the process of fixing everything…one step at a time. Rome wasn’t built in a day, you know!
At least I got a spanking new logo! Drew it myself. Thoughts?
